About the Association

The Association of Hungarian Guides has been
founded in 1989, with the number of the
associates developing considerably since the
beginning. From every part of the country, new
skilled guides join with the association. These
guides are mainly persons holding degrees,
who possess official guide certificate.

As it is well-known, in Hungary only the guides possessing official certificates and
badges may pursue the profession of the tour guide. In case a guide does not
have a valid certificate, a penalty is given by the General Inspectorate for
Consumer Protection. The members of the Association of Hungarian Guides are
working according to the professional orders, and dispose of a valid certificate.
For our guests we can offer qualified guides working on a high level.
Some of them undertake interpreting, translating and language teaching too.
Several of them undertake guiding with their own car or small bus. It is an important
task for the Association to find and procure work for the members.
