Guide

Dear Guests!

The Association of Hungarian Tour Guides was founded in 1989. All members of the Association are well-trained practising tour-guides. They show you around the sights of Budapest, our capital city and its surroundings along with all other parts of Hungary. We will look for the tour-guide suitable for the program required – we can find the person at your disposal, at the given venue, who is an expert in the demanded theme, e.g. history, construction, arts or gastronomy.

From the list below we can arrange amazing court or longer tours for you and you can choose the most convenient one of the countless variations. The site Gallery of images can help you as well. Please, fill up the form “Inquiry” and you will get the answer in a short time.

We offer panorama tours with a car or a bus, or walking tours as well as public transport and transfers for groups or individual guests. In Budapest during a tour of 4 or 8 hours you can visit the most significant monuments as the Houses of Parliament, the Opera House, the Mathias church, the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Citadel, the Basilica, the Big Market Hall, the Cliff Church, the Memento Park (with statues from the socialist period), the City Park, the Zoo, the Castle Vajdahunyad, the Music Academy Liszt Ferenc, the Synagogue, the Jewish Quarter, the Margaret Island, and so on. You can take various excursions with the Cog Railway or the Railway for children, and there is a special program to have a go with the cable-car up to the Castle Hill.

There is a wide range of Museums: in addition to the National Museum, there are the Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Gallery, the National Gallery or you can visit the House of Terror, the Jewish Museum, the Holocaust Museum, the Memorial Museum Liszt Ferenc, the Folk Art Museum or the Museum of Applied Arts all of which offer special experiences for the visitors.

Budapest is famous as a city of Spas, so you can visit the Bath Széchenyi, the Gellért, the Rudas, the Király, or the Palatinus.

If the guest is tired, a lot of restaurants, cafés are waiting for you, among others the famous Gerbeaud Café, the traditional restaurant Gundel , the New York Café, or the restaurant Hadik in the Castle. You can either have dinner with a folklore program or a wine tasting event in several places in Budapest or in the capital area.

A special gift of our capital is the Danube and the numerous cruises on the River. You can choose a cruise of 1 or 2 hours with or without a meal besides the most beautiful sight that the illuminated Budapest offers you at night. The guests are happy to participate in a tour with the amphibious bus Riverride too, which starts in the streets of the city and finishes on the Danube.

In the surrounding area of Budapest you can find the Danube Bend with Szentendre, Visegrád and Esztergom, or it is also easy to approach Gödöllő with the Royal Castle – these places can be visited in a half-day tour or a full day tour. A little further away there is the Lake Balaton; a tour around the lake is also an attractive destination for all tourists.

The guests of our country can get to know the famous horse breeding and the Hungarian hospitality visiting the Puszta, and they can participate in horse shows and at the same time they may have lunch in country taverns or may take part in a wine tasting evening in a wine-cellar nearby.

You can visit some famous traditional cities all over Hungary like Eger, Hollókő, Szeged, Kecskemét, Ópusztaszer, Veszprém, Győr, Kőszeg, Sopron, Pécs under others, and don’t miss the World Heritage sites, like Aggtelek, Tokaj, Hortobágy, Fertőtó, Pannonhalma and so on.
